Nureed el Haqiqah (We want the Truth)

Lan Nansa, Anna-Nicole Smith (1967-2007)

Someone please start a petition to the UN for an international tribunal to try the drug dealers who supplied Anna Nicole with a lethal overdose.

Ahmadinejad is obviously behind her death. Nothing demoralizes us (Americans) quite as much as the death of reality tv stars. Add that to the Pentagon's reasons to attack Iran.

rest assured edb. we shall not rest here in lebanon until we expose all the killers, be they friends, foes, allies, super-powers or trust-enforcing lawyers.. we will get them all, regardless of the whims of Chirac, Israel, the Bahamas

the death of anyone in this world is a shame and a loss, be it anna nicole or rafik hariri (the butt of your crude joke).
Anyway
It is a shame that you make fun of a woman who took her life or overdosed accidentally both causes are usually fuelled by anguish and inner pain which an insentitive person cannot fathom, and therfore makes it inot a bad joke.
people who do not respect the sanctity of any life be it in africa, palestine, lebanon, or america, and make light of the death and suffering of others, no matter who the dead person is,
deserve to live in a banana republic

and YOU Lycheetrophy by wishing others whatever you think a Banana Republic "offers" , DO seem to respect life and dignity, and the suffering of others!

Hypocrites like you are far worse than anything said here or before!

We know your type: Pedophiles and bomb makers who hide behind the facades of respectability.

Lycanthropy,
i disagree with you on the sanctity of life... the end of a life does not in itself warrant moral indignation. Killing is corrupt and unjust in most cases. Not every death is a tragedy... if it were than a callous attitude towards what an army or government does in your name should warrant more outrage than poking fun at the hypocrisy surrounding the campaign for "the truth". It's Lebanon for crying out loud! The assassination was an internal coup of sorts, and two years later, it is socially and politically still impermissable to say, "who gives a fuck about Hariri?" A divisive figure to say the least. What we all have to love him or refrain from mocking him because he is dead?
People die all the time!!!! People who surely deserved it less than Rafiq Hariri.

What's the whole point of fearing hell, if after life you are exonerated from being in any way the subject or catalyst of criticism or ridicule? Death is as natural as life. Neither are good, but to bestow upon oneself the right to take a life is almost always wrong. Can we agree? Or are you some sort of crusading anti-assisted suicide, pro-lifer (in both senses of the term-- the anti-abortion and the Lebanese billboard favorite)?

In regards to Anna Nicole, this is a real tragedy. I mean, she was famous. We felt like we all knew her.... blablablablabla.

If we cannot make fun of Anna Nicole Smith anymore, we're in deep. I bet it's a zionist complot. Please, occupied territory, enlighten us on the fishy death of this superstar. Was it you?

Making jokes about the death of this woman is really too much EDB, whatever you thought of her. There's a fine line between comedy and cruelty and I think you've just crossed it.

EDB said...

La Lebanessa. I'm sorry the actual (and intended) cruelty of the joke is lost on you...

I am not making fun of Anna Nicole Smith. She is merely a means for me to point out the absurdity/hypocrisy of the ruling coalition's misuse of Hariri's death.

The politicization of Hariri's death is the butt of this joke.

EDB,

Many thanks for explaining the obvious.

My comment was on the insensitiviy of your using the wonman's death as part of your "in" joke.

Habibi, don't you have anything more to be upset about on this dark day in our nation's history?

Anna nikole led a pretty good life for a trailer trash stripper. your country has a bloody history that keeps repeating itself... and using anna nikoles death is insensitive?

Lalebanessa said...

ghassan,

The idea was you shouldn't use people's deaths as a source of amusement whomever they might be.

My thoughts on what happened today are posted on my own blog, not on EDB's.

Joke's obvious, not about Anna Nicole however sarcasm was unnecessary in my opinion, as comparison is invalid in this case.

Oh get over yourselves all of you!
She's not making fun of the poor woman. And your reactions and lack of understanding of not-so-subtle sarcasm are embarrassing. This is why we have problems in Leb. Everyone takes offense at the slightest thing and turns it into a blood feud. W2ayr!

Hey guys, wake up, smell the coffee and get a life!
She is not making fun of the poor trailer trash-turned-billionaire, it's just about the sometimes ridiculous hype about the Hariri "international" court issue.
Really, don't you find something more important that arises your indignation? Like famine in Africa, spread of HIV/AIDS, death of innocent civilians in conflicts...

No comments about the bus bombing?

hmmmmm....

I for one want to know what killed her. We all know that 800 kilogrammes of military-grade explosive killed Hariri, and that opthalmology was involved somewhere. Anne Nicole's cause if death is still unknown. So there's more "truth" for me to "want" in this one. ;)

Let's face it; the reason there is obsession with Smith's death, at least in the American media, is her notoriety as a sex symbol and what is perceived as a scandalous lifestyle. That is it. But that obsession is an indication of the kind of superficiality that our media has used as a tactic to "sell" information and to "dumb down" the public (and hopefully, the global public too; they are working on it).

I think most people's psyche cannot handle the pain of what really goes on in the world and the butchery and suffering that ensues from it. That is what why it is difficult to discuss matters like the Hariri assassination in an honest way. Instead, the other "celebrities" become the focus because their lives are simpler and they represent the escape from our reality.

See, acknowledging that there are deep issues in our world, like the killing of Hariri or the brutal occupations of Iraq and Palestine, implies that we have acknowledged that such injustices exist and, therefore, makes us morally obligated to do something about them. We really do not have to do anything about Anna Smith.

I think those who become indignant with satire really miss the point of what involvement in the process of being a citizen of the world is.

Maybe it is about time we become news makers as opposed to news consumers only. THAT is the challenge for an enlightened citizenry and, until we reach that conclusion, I am afraid we will continue to fight the battles of those who are controlling us as opposed to fighting our own battles with ourselves for the welfare of everybody.

Lebanon has not changed much since 1943, or 1975, but I am hopeful that maybe this new spark of a younger generation will finally yank the helm from the keepers of this quasi feudal fiefdom we have all grown to love, hate, work hard, and kill for.

EDB: In a humble attempt to topple all these unnecessarily judgmental comments you always get, I have to say this is HILARIOUS!
Miss you a lot! Can’t wait to see you.

To the rest (they all know who they are): Gente, try to stop making use of feigned values, like ethics and respect to others. Please! It is quite contradictory that we should struggle to bestow respect to anyone once they die. People die all the time and, in some cases, it’s funny! Respect does not mean anything, it does not exist. Sorry if it makes you want to kill yourselves, too bad. Just embrace that idea.

Too bad that "mainstream" news media couldn't possibly get the joke, eh?
